If you encounter a record in the LINK+ catalog that displays "LINK+ Resource" instead of the usual "[#] LINK+ libraries have this item", you are viewing a record that contains an incorrect BCODE value. The incorrect value is suppressing all members' holdings for this record. In all likelihood, a contributing member's BCODE3 contains either a "g" or "o" code. Both codes designate system (LINK+) ownership rather than ownership by a specific site on the Local Server and both codes will result in the "LINK+ Resource" display issue.
Since a problem of this nature could indicate an error in a BCODE mapping table, all instances of this type should be reported to the Innovative Support Desk. Always include the record number of the problem record when reporting this issue. The record number can be found by clicking the "MARC Display" button at the top of the screen. The record number will be located at the top of the MARC display of the bibliographic record. Reporting the record number will greatly assist Support Desk staff in resolving the display issue quickly, especially when there are many editions/versions of a particular title.
When reporting issues involving specific records within the LINK+ catalog, always include the bibliographic record number. This number represents the unique identification number of the master bibliographic record. Having the record number of the problem record speeds up the troubleshooting process for Support Desk staff, especially when there are many editions/versions of a particular title in the central catalog.
Click the "Permanent Link" link, located at the bottom of the full record display. This will display the record's permanent URL link, which you may then simply copy and paste into your trouble report.
Each bibliographic record in the LINK+ catalog contains a 945 field for each institution record that is linked to that particular master bibliographic record. You can view these 945 fields in the LINK+ catalog by retrieving a record and clicking the "MARC Display" button at the top of the screen. Each 945 field may include the following subfields, which are delimited by the pipe (|) symbol:
945 9cppo|bb1622597|ci33149008|o1|sN
The example above represents a Cal Poly Pomona institution record, including local bibliographic record number and institution record number. Cal Poly Pomona owns the master bibliographic record on the LINK+ catalog and its holdings are not suppressed.
945 9sact|bb1687278|ci36842479|q!|sN
The example above represents a Sacramento Public Library institution record, including local bibliographic record number and institution record number. SPL belongs to a local server that uses the INN-REACH Agency model and its holdings are not suppressed.
This can be a good way of tracking down the master bib record owner if you encounter a cataloging error in the central catalog. You could then notify that institution so that they can correct the error.
Virtual records are temporary records constructed by INN-Reach software. Virtual records do not exist as autonomous records. Instead, they are stored within the records to which they are linked. There are two kinds of virtual records:
Represents an item requested by a LINK+ patron. The virtual item record is stored within the requesting patron's record.
Represents the patron who requested a LINK+ item. The virtual patron record is stored within the requested item record.
If you need to look up an item in your system that another LINK+ member has borrowed--and you only have the virtual item record number (e.g. i2417590@9scpl)--you can find this item in your system by searching your Record Number index. When searching, do not include the "@9----" at the end of the virtual record number but do append the letter "a" ("a" is the wildcard symbol for the item record number's check digit.)
