LINK+ Repository: Listservs

Listservs

Join the LINK+ Listserv ⬇️

The listserv is the go-to for important information about LINK+. The following staff at your library should be subscribed:

  • All official LINK+ contacts (those listed on your repository Member Contact page)
  • Anyone who works with LINK+ materials and needs to be "in the know" (i.e. about downtime alerts, courier issues, meeting notices...all important LINK+-related information)

All members should have more than one staff member subscribed to the listserv.

To subscribe, send an email Amy Homick.

Listserv and Spam Filters ⬇️

If you are subscribed but not receiving listserv postings, make sure your spam/email filters are set to accept messages from linkplus@listserv.iii.com.

Listserv Etiquette ⬇️

The following are some general tips for participating in the listserv:

  • Include a signature tag on all messages (include your name and affiliation and your e-mail address.)
  • Make the subject line meaningful and useful.
  • Start a new message when starting a new topic rather than replying or forwarding a previous topic's message.
  • When responding to a posting, place your comments at the top of the message and include only the relevant portions of the previous message in your reply.
  • Remember that when you hit the reply button that you will be automatically responding to the entire list. Only reply to the entire list if it benefits everyone.
  • Do not send administrative messages (e.g. unsubscribe requests) to the list. Such messages should go to the LINK+ Administrator.

Posting to the LINK+ Listserv ⬇️

To post to the linkplus listserv, send your message to linkplus@listserv.iii.com or click the "Click here to post a message to the LINK+ listserv" link on the repository Home page. You must be subscribed to post a message to the listserv.

Listserv Size Limitations ⬇️

The listserv rejects posts that exceed a certain size, so try to limit attachments to small sizes and one-page documents. When pasting pictures into the body of an email posting, make them as small as possible.

Listserv Rejections ⬇️

If the listserv rejects your posting, scroll down and take a look at the reason. This could give you a good idea of why your post was rejected. For example, "exceeded storage allocation" means that your message was too big or you added an attachment that was too large.
