LINK+ Repository: Policy

Policy

Claimed Returned Policy ⬇️

If not found, the borrowing library should wait four weeks to allow the book to be found and returned (perhaps returned to the wrong library, wrong branch, etc.) If the book is not found after the designated time, the patron shall be deemed responsible for the replacement charges of the book. The borrowing library has up to one year to collect the replacement cost from the patron and reimburse the owning institution. Late fees can be waived at the borrowing library's discretion and the actual replacement cost can be negotiated library to library as with our policy regarding Institutional Overdues.

Never mark a LINK+ item as "Claimed Returned" in Sierra. This will remove the item from the patron's record.

LINK+ Policies ⬇️

LINK+ policies (loan periods, replacement cost, etc.) can be found under the "LINK+ Requesting and Borrowing" link on the catalog home page (under Library Links). They can also be found on the repository.

Sending Damaged or Fragile LINK+ Items ⬇️

Libraries should not send badly damaged or fragile items. If you receive a damaged (or just dirty and frayed) item, it should be noted on the label when it is received so the library knows it was sent in that condition.

(from Spring 2011 Operations Meeting): Most libraries note the damage on the label and check out the book. Some send the book back and re-request the item for the patron. The extent of the damage may factor into your decision as to whether to check the item out or return it and re-request.

Policy Questions ⬇️

You can send your LINK+ policy questions to the Operations Steering committee. Use the "Click here to email the Operations Steering Committee" link on the Home tab (under "Quick Links") to send your message to the entire committee and the LINK+ Administrator.
